Next, proceed to tour the majestic Agra Fort. Its walls and palaces are a silent witness to the rise and fall of the Imperial Mughal Empire and feature a variety of ingenious Islamic-inspired devices (some decorative, some more practical) within the fabric of the buildings. It is a citadel with marble palaces, ornate alcoves, and terrace pavilions.
After the tour, check-in, and break for lunch.
Next visit the baby Taj. Often referred to as the “Baby Taj Mahal”, the tomb of Itimad-up-Dalulah is a Mughal mausoleum and is often regarded as a copy of the Taj Mahal. It basically consists of Indo-Islamic architecture, using arched entrances and octagonal-shaped towers. If you take a bird’s eye of Itimad-ud-Daulah Tomb, it looks like a jewel box set in a garden.
In the evening, embark on an exciting food tour – Zaika-E-Akbarabad Though founding Mughals Babur and Humayun spent so much time as soldiers in their imperial bastion of Agra, they had little time to establish a culinary culture, the city has more than made up for that lack Today Agra offers a dazzling variety of culinary adventure which are deeply connected to Central Asian, Persian and regional South Asian cuisines in beautiful ways.
Agra has been designed in such a way that it encourages cultural confluence. Credit for this can be given to king Akbar, a secular king who laid the foundations of the city. Mughal cuisine, marked for its naans, qaliyas, dopiazas, pulaos, kababs would surely have used Agra as a stepping stone for its wider footprint across India!
